Supporting Ukrainians in Need.
Children Helping Children
Beginning
The Ukrainian Village Fund was established by Maria Wozniuk Connolly in 2006 to help the small village where she was born, Maidan Labun. Maria left her village on a horse drawn sleigh as a very young child during World War II but the village has never been far from her heart. She has provided supplies and support over the years to her village.
Currently
When Russia attacked Ukraine, everything changed. Maria and her grandchildren, Theo, Cora and Matthew, decided to expand the role of the Ukrainian Village Fund and created the Ukrainian Village Fund of Massachusetts. They could not stand idly by and watch the devastation to children and families in Maria’s homeland.
Renewing the commitment of the Ukrainian Village Fund, Maria, Theo, Cora and Matthew are making connections with Ukrainian villages and towns ravaged by war to see how they can help. So many small villages and towns throughout Ukraine are alone and desperate. They seek to bring those villages and towns necessities to get them through these unbearable days.
Grassroots Efforts.
Countries are pouring money and supplies into Ukraine but small villages and towns are hurting.
Starting with the town of Toretsk, Baba and her grandchildren connected with teachers to help provide supplies to the children.
They quickly learned that Toretsk and many other villages have no power grid and no electricity. They now hope to bring as many emergency generators as possible to Toretsk and surrounding villages.
As Russia is advancing, now with the help of North Korean troops, we need your help more than ever.
Every little bit helps.
“It “takes a village” to protect children in ordinary times. But for children living through the horror of war, it takes the global community. Help us to help children and families survive this winter.”
